Mushroom Mania: Transform Your Health with Fungi

Mushroom lovers gather round! We hear so much about mushroom beverages, microsdosing, etc. I am here to tell you a little bit about each of my favorite mushrooms that we carry at the clinic. These are useful to most people and can be rotated every 6 weeks, or so, as a way to insure exposure to ultra-healthy beta-glucans. Beta-Glucans have enhanced immune activating properties.

The two mushroom species with the highest content of beta-glucans are the Reishi and Turkey Tail. A book that I frequently refer to with mushroom related inquiries is Medicinal Mushrooms by Christopher Hobbs.

So here’s what you need to know about four popular mushrooms.

reishi mushrooms

Potential benefits include the activation of immune response against cancer cells. 🙌🏻 The big reason we love Reishi is for relief of symptoms of anxiety, insomnia, and depression. We can hardly keep this one in stock!

Lion’s Mane

Lions Mane Mushroom

The “hot topic” of research because of its ability to support nerve repair in the body as well as protect the mind and memory. It can be used for neuropathies, pinched nerves, or nerve injury. I often prescribe this one for forgetfulness and depression.

Chaga Mushroom

Another powerful fungus for inhibiting cancer cell growth. In Russia, Ukraine, and other Eastern European countries, Chaga is also used to treat blood sugar and insulin imbalances, heart disease, tuberculosis, and stomach problems. 😅 Wow!

Turkey Tail

Turkey Tail Mushrooms

A friend to those undergoing chemotherapy. Patients in clinical trials taking turkey tail with chemo have reported better quality of life, even in advanced cancers, and reduced symptoms of fatigue, nausea, and decreased appetite.

Studies show that it can also help clear the body of the human papilloma virus.

Others of notable mention are Shitake, Cordyceps, and Honey Mushroom.

Try incorporating mushrooms into your diet. I have been making this soup for years!
