Mocktails To Make At Home

Summer is weeks away, and it’s time to entertain as well as lounge. ☀️🍉⛳️🏖️ While staying hydrated is of utmost importance, there are fun ways to do just that.

🍹🍸I love a colorful, non-alcoholic mocktail, whether I’m socializing or enjoying a solo night under the stars. Also, it’s a great way to include your kids in cocktail hour!

As you know, mocktails are often loaded with sugar and/or too much fruit juice. We aim to help you create a tasty beverage that is low in sugars as well as nonalcoholic.

A few rules of thumb:

Mineral Water

la croix water

Use mineral water as your base. Make your own with a Soda Stream or purchase unadulterated mineral water.

Also, a can of La Croix is fine! Another base though slightly higher in sugars is coconut water which is packed with electrolytes, antioxidants, and amino acids that hydrate and replenish the body.

Fruit

In lieu of fruit juice, use mottled berries to add sweetness. 🍓🍒🫐 Frozen whole berries work fine, especially if it’s a blended mocktail. When choosing juices, look for 100% juice and ❌avoid juice cocktails and nectars.

Pomegranate and cranberry juices are particularly high in antioxidants. Try to limit juice to a few ounces per drink.

Add lemon or orange zest, a dehydrated lemon or blood orange garnish can elevate your game, for sure!

Snip off a sprig of rosemary, thyme, or basil from the garden.
